In recent years Richard Carter has become known as one of the iconic voices of Australian advertising. His now famous voice work on the award winning VB beer commercials has perhaps given him the heavy mantel of John Meillon's vocal successor.

But it's there the comparisons should stop.

Richard is the bloke on the worksite and at the same time the boss shouting from the office. He is the low life gutter criminal and in an instant the stone faced law enforcer.

The computer illiterate dad struggling with a digital family and then in a moment, the quicksmart business operator who has a warehouse of wigits to shift.

Richard's voice is bullish and drives hard at every gate that it comes across like a four wheel drive that doesn't know when to stop.
He is a hardwearing canvas pulled tight across the rig of an eighteen-wheeler barrelling out of Darwin. Big, broad and dusty.

And because that voice is so big and so potent - when he pokes himself in the eye the comedy comes in buckets.

If you think you hear weariness, a tired man, a brow full of sweat and a late afternoon loose tie you're right because just when you get used to the lumber rumbling tough-guy tones of his voice - there is nothing sadder than Richard a long way from home saying goodnight to a child. Sorrow is his strength.

Richard Carter is genuinely unique and vocally represents everything that is emotionally connected to being Australian.
