So you're looking to hire a Gen Z-er to voice your next commercial or animated production. But what sort of Gen Z-er do you want? The library know-it-all-kid? The stay-at-home-sick kid? The theme-park pest kid demanding one more ride? Sure, any child can read the line - but we expect adult-like emotions and vocal flexibility in delivery.
We expect a performance. Because cuteness can only go so far. Vanilla Tupu has been doing voice work since she was 11, and has performance discipline in bucket-loads. You can hear it in her delivery energy, her inflection and clarity of diction. And all that means everyone in the studio can breathe a sigh of relief knowing the session will be a far easier one.
Being 14 has it's advantages too, when hiring Vanilla. You get a young girl smart enough to sound a little older or a young teenager still happy to be childishly playful. Because we've all been through last-minute script changes - and if you have a talent who can vary her delivery a few years either side of her real age, your choice becomes so much better. |
