Casting Notes: Some will know Ben Oxenbould for his TV work, some will know his voice for his reliability in the studio and the rest who are discovering him for the first time will be kicking themselves they haven’t used him sooner. But which “him” do you want?
Some clients want the funny guy. Ben’s sketch comedy and movie credentials are impressive. His ability for the understated joke or self-deprecating humour make him ideal for radio and working with others when you want someone to deliver the joke correctly.
Some clients want the younger guy. There’s no doubt that Ben has had the good fortune to have gargled with the waters of the fountain of youth. The result is he can give a younger vocal delivery filled with energy but clients can talk straight at the time of recording. without feeling they may upset a much younger child voice talent.
And then there are those clients who want the serious guy. One that won't scare us or bore us. Despite the heavier or more thought-provoking messages Ben conveys, his tone is still encouraging enough not to drop the whole script into the morbid bucket.
Undoubtedly Ben knows his voice really well. He’s had years of practice and years of using it in various situations for various mediums. He’s become an expert of slight changes for maximum effect. He can move from Aussie tradesman honesty to corporate pinstripe concern quickly.
It’s important to also mention Ben has achieved outstanding success in charity work in Nepal. This very rarely mentioned part of his character is one of the many reasons why Ben Oxenbould is good at what he does and good to the people he works with.
