Take half a step back from hard sell. Turn down the fluro cheese lights and smooth out the edges around the dry and boring. These compass directions put you on a vocal bearing to where you’ll find Brent Meyer.
Here in ”Meyerville” Brent’s voice resists the temptation to be old school. To deliver a retail rant or to be self-indulgent with self importance. All the strength is there, all the urgency is there but without the shout and novice misdirection a lesser professional would reveal.
So.....how do we put him to use? Brent excels in corporate delivery. The understated importance, the dry message delivered with interest, the vocal lift that can inspire or highlight a glowing new discovery.
Retail takes on a singular focus. Brent can be a heavyweight hitter when he wants to be, but if you want to get the best from him give him the chance to slow the read down. All the punch will still be there for maximum effect.
In this post-GFC world to have a “big voice” on a piece of audio now means an entirely different thing. The voice must now come hand-in-hand with elements the listener can connect with and relate to.
